Microwave Signal Generator
The 8684A Microwave Signal Generator is an all solid-state replacement for the older 8614/8616 series of signal generators. This easy to operate generator covers the frequency range of 5.4 to 12.5 GHz with a digital readout of the frequency. Frequency accuracy is 1.25% (5.4 to 9.0 GHz) and 0.75% (9.0 to 12.5 GHz). Residual FM is less than 10 kHz while SSB phase noise is -72 dBc at a 10 kHz offset. Output impedance is 50 Ohms over a level range of 0 to -130 dBm. Output level accuracy is 2.5 dB from specified power level. Flatness at a power level of -10 dBm is 1.0 dB. Confidence in signal generator performance is provided by diagnostic tests which happen at turn on. The reliability of these generators is reflected in a demonstrated MTBF in excess of 20,000 hours.
